Job Description:

Asphalt Protectors seeks a construction Equipment and Diesel Maintenance Mechanic to maintain all trucks, equipment, and maintenance files. This position will have multiple responsibilities with the warehouse.

A minimum of three years of experience in diesel and equipment maintenance is required. Welding experience is a plus. A Mechanic should have patience, organization, and good communication skills. Safety and the ability to problem-solve are essential factors in our work.

Position: Equipment and Diesel Maintenance Mechanic

Responsibilities

  • In charge of the fleet and equipment program for proactive and regularly scheduled maintenance
  • Diagnose, service, and repair fleet and equipment at multiple locations
  • Track, manage, and maintain equipment, fleet, material purchases, and outsourcing when necessary
  • Performs a full range of skilled automotive and equipment repair work
  • Keeps records and creates reports pertaining to repairs performed
  • Inspects automotive equipment regularly
  • Prepares cost estimates for automotive repairs
  • Instructs operators in the proper operation and servicing of their equipment
  • Assist the Superintendent with the efforts that drive improvement in all associated work processes affecting environmental, health, & safety compliance, reliability, quality, production, and costs
  • Professional and quality work to manufacturers’ standards
  • Keep your work area and tools clean, organized, and in proper working condition
  • 360-degree communication with vendors, team members, and clients

Skills and Abilities

  • Training and experience with gasoline and diesel engine mechanics as applied to the maintenance and repair of automotive and construction equipment
  • Independently diagnose problems and perform major and minor repairs on fleet and construction equipment
  • Understand the tools, equipment, and methods used to diagnose, overhaul, and repair
  • Must have basic knowledge of proper operating procedures of multiple types of equipment
  • Arithmetic and basic mathematical calculations
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to communicate with customers and fellow employees

Qualifications

  • Three years minimum of specialized training and experience in heavy equipment and diesel engine diagnostics, repair, and maintenance
  • Must have a valid driver’s license (preferably CDL) with a clean driving record and the ability to be insured to operate company vehicles
  • Must be familiar with OSHA requirements regarding fleet and equipment
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • Welding and fabrication are a plus
